Facts, Futures and [fears]

Optimism: an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best possible outcome. It is the philosophical opposite of pessimism.

So, here is what we do know...
  • Dan has a new job as an Edward Jones Financial Advisor; after successfully presenting himself on a phone interview, for 30+ people in cold-house-calls and a face-to-face interview, he was offered the job!
  • His start date is August 8th, 2011 and his location will be in Georgia. North-Eastern-outer-Atlanta region (Athens, Watkinsville area).
  • His current job situation is unbelievably stressful (two jobs, no break, no weekends). His new job will be much less stressful, more rewarding and a completely different change of pace.
  • Dan's last day of teaching school is June 10th.
  • Jenny is still pregnant with their second child (in case you thought it was too many donuts). She is still expected to deliver on or near June 28th, 2011. We are planning to deliver at a Birth Center in the Charlotte region.
  • Our house is officially up for sale today; April 13, 2011.
  • Houses on our street have lower prices, green grass and have been for sale for months and months. On average, houses sell in 6-9 months in this area. Our realtor is optimistic with a 3 month goal.
  • Our house is clean, well-decorated, large and has a great floor plan. We have a garden and woods and a flat yard.

What we dont know [fears]...
  • If the house will sell in this short time-frame (for something other than free)
  • Where we will be living in August when Dan starts his new job
  • When our second baby will come and if we'll be in this house at that time.
  • If we get to keep our beautiful and large refrigerator (hehe).

James 1:2-7 Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault , and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

(look at how handsome Dan is!)

Awesome, exciting things happening for you guys! We will be praying the house sells for a good price with good timing! While not as stressful as your situation(since I am not pregnant), I can sympathize a bit as we are moving to Wash state for a promotion so Robert doesn't have to work two jobs with no breaks, etc. Will also pray for peace for you in the midst of all of this, a wonderful birth experience and lots of helping hands!

Hey Jenny!

It's Carri--Bonnie (Claire's sister)'s granddaughter. Got all that? I think that makes us like 3rd cousins or something. I haven't seen you all in years (I think the last time I saw you was at Grandma Scott's funeral...) Anyhow, my Nonnie (through Claire) shared your and your sister's blogs with me awhile back and I've been an avid reader and when I read this post (about all the exciting things happening in your family's life) I couldn't help but want to respond! All I know is this--I am preparing to relocate for a job too (in May!) and I'm filled with tons of fear. Amongst this beautiful chaos that is my life I have taken a refuge in the reality that this life is already designed for me, I just have to live and honor that design. And I think the things you all have ahead of you are amazing (and definitely honoring) of the design that has been planned for you (and your family). Things will fall into place in ways you didn't expect and I'll definitely be praying for a calming of fears.

Much love to you and your family (and your extended family!)

Great post Jenny D Haller. It's so refreshing to know that you and Dan are trusting God in your lives, and counting on His very word to guide you. There just aren't that many young families out there anymore who will or can do that. He will bless you for that. Count on it. It's His timing that is the unknown. But as you wait upon Him, He will grow you both spiritually. And who doesn't want that?

Now, about Dan's handsomeness...different story. Ha

We will be praying for you guys! Having just come out of a season similar to this, with lots of unknowns & not knowing where you'll live, etc - we can sympathize. :) I'm sure the Lord has great things in store for your little family!
